I'm so excited to get up close to them and see them preform the songs and to get a picture - I've never met them before and have liked them like since I was 8 :)

The soundcheck check in time varies from city to city. At the top of this page it says the check in time hasn't been determined yet so try to check this page for any updates.
From my past VIP experiences if you show up around 4pm at the box office you should be safe. In San Francisco VIP check in was at 4pm. In Reno, I showed up around 4:30pm. In Fresno check in didn't start until past 4:30pm. In Las Vegas, check in didn't start until past 6:30pm.
I received no call and you don't receive your pass in the mail. You get the pass in person after you check in with a person from the fan club the day of the concert.
Since you bought gold VIP, you're entitled to 1 group picture with Bsb. Most of the time the meeting part is very fast. Depending on time either you shake hands with Bsb or hug them. If you want to say something to Bsb you have to be fast about it. Don't expect to have a full conversation with them or anything. Don't expect anything more than a "Hi," "Hello," and if you're lucky a "How are you?" It's usually take your picture and then go away so the next person can have their turn.
Someone from the fan club will take your group picture with Backstreet. You're allowed to take your own pictures while they're performing either 2 or 3 songs and the q & a. (They've never done 4 songs at the sound checks I went to.) There's no other autographs provided. Backstreet's security also doesn't like it when you're obviously filming the sound check. I've seen them stop fans from filming the sound check if they have a video camera. They seem all right when you film the sound check with a regular digital camera though.
The whole sound check is about 30 minutes.
To me, sound check is what you make it. If you have way too many high expectations then expect to be disappointed. If you go into sound check without any expectations then I feel you'll have a lot of fun. Most of the reason I go to sound check is to see them perform the 2 or 3 songs. I'm not really concerned with the picture.
Hey how strict are they - do they let you take your own photos too at soundcheck or get other autographs other that the photo that is provided in the VIP package?
Ok so I just bought gold vip - how does this work - how do you know what time to show up etc? Do they call you or send you passes or what? And you do get to meet them right??

@miss1030 I won plane tickets to anywhere in the United States/Canada/Mexico from Coca Cola so I'm planning to use them to go to Winnipeg.
Plus my grandma lives about less than 10 minutes away from the venue so I don't have to worry about getting a hotel. Plus my mom has always wanted to visit relatives in Winnipeg (we have a lot there!).
This trip just takes care of so many things at once for me and my mom. I get to see Backstreet, relatives, and visit a new place all at the same time :)
