Backstreet Boys plan new album with original lineup

All the fuss over a new crop of boy bands such as One Direction must have spurred the Backstreet Boys to get to work.

Even if they're more of an Encroaching-on-Prime-Adulthood Band these days, the '90s O.G.s of billowing white suits and frosted-tip haircuts announced big new plans today on "Good Morning America," including a new album that will feature all five original members.

The yet-untitled work will be the band's first with its founding lineup of Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, A.J. McLean and Kevin Richardson since 2005 (Richardson announced his return to the group three months ago, after leaving in 2006). The group previously had a successful arena tour with boy band predecessors New Kids On the Block in 2010.

The band is currently working in a London studio with producer Martin Terefe, and the album release is planned to coincide with the band's 20th anniversary next April -- an anniversary that should make nostalgaic millenials feel that icy breath of the Reaper on their necks.

    This is so cool!!! It gives me time to save money for the tour and the cruise next year!! I went last year, but I want to go again and sail with my idols!!

    Well hey look at it this way new album next year! cruise 2013! New tour later meaning more time to save for it! ;) Iam so excited & will be heading over to see the guys this week coming!

    Don't forget the hoped for London BSB 20YR TRIBUTE PEEPZZ! cumonnn London we gotta get it together for the guyss if not I will do it hopefully & try get people who wouldnt mind getting involved ;)

    Backstreet Boys would like to make their fans in Chengdu, China aware that, due to new strict building regulations adopted by authorities since the recent earthquake, they will be unable to use their full stage production for tonight’s performance.  In addition, the sight lines for the performance will likely be affected for some of the fans by the new regulations.  Although the changes are intended to maintain the safety of all attendees and although Backstreet have no control over the new regulations, they regret any inconvenience caused to the fans and ask that they contact the promoter BAC Productions, regarding any issues that arise.
